Zgodnie z postanowieniem prezydenta Rosji, zwycięzcy i laureaci międzynarodowych olimpiad w zakresie przedmiotów ogólnokształcących, a także ich nauczyciele, będą otrzymywać nagrody finansowe.
Corocznie będą one wręczane członkom reprezentacji szkolnych Federacji Rosyjskiej i ich opiekunom. Za złoty medal, zdobyty w olimpiadach międzynarodowych, przewidywane są nagrody w wysokości 1 mln rubli, za srebrny medal – 500 tys. rubli, za medal brązowy– 400 tys. rubli.
Nauczyciele, którzy w skuteczny sposób przygotowali zespół uczniów do konkursu, zgodnie z dekretem, będą otrzymywać nagrody równoważne wartości wynagrodzeń, przeznaczonych dla ich podopiecznych.
Jest jednak warunek odnośnie przeznaczenia wygranych pieniędzy przez zwycięzców olimpiad. W pierwszej kolejności środki finansowe powinny być ukierunkowane „na zaspokojenie potrzeb w zakresie edukacji, zapewnienia odpoczynku i regeneracji sił, a także innych potrzeb, związanych z rozwojem i samorealizacją".
